1. Ataşehir Skatepark
Ataşehir Skateboarding Park is one of the first areas that come to mind among the Skateboarding Parks on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Ataşehir Skate Park, which is located in Ataşehir Atatürk District, attracts the attention of children and young people in particular. It is located in a very close location for skating and skateboarding enthusiasts living in Kadıköy, Çekmeköy, Ümraniye and Beykoz districts.
There is almost no need for directions for those who come to Ataşehir Skateboarding Park via the TEM Highway. When you come by using the TEM (E-80) highway, Ataşehir Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanical Garden is located at the back of the Metropol Istanbul Shopping Center, which is right across.
We usually see children using roller skates, scooters or skateboards on the track. However, in the evening, the professionals come out to the track. It is quite entertaining to sit in the viewing area and watch this visual show of young skateboarders.
2.Maltepe Skatepark (Sureyya Beach Skateboarding Park)
Maltepe Skatepark, which I had the chance to discover recently, is the biggest among Istanbul’s skate parks. Located in Maltepe District on the Anatolian side, Skatepark appeals to almost all age groups.
It is located in the large area created by filling the sea at the place known as Süreyya Beach in the past. As a location, it serves adrenaline enthusiasts both on the Anatolian side and on the European side with Marmaray transportation.
How to get to Maltepe Skatepark?
Visitors arriving by car can reach Maltepe Skateboarding Park via Turgut Özal Boulevard (Seaside Road). Ispark has a parking lot with a capacity of 5000 vehicles. The daily usage fee of the Parking Lot in Maltepe Skatepark is only 10 ₺. In addition, this car park provides service for 24 hours. (Skatepark Map: https://goo.gl/maps/CJhGAVguhhbfJ4Wv8)
In addition, those who will come to Maltepe Skateboarding Park by using public transport can reach the Marmaray quickly and easily. When you get off at Marmaray – Sureyya Beach station, it is about 10 minutes’ walk away. Those who want to come by bus should use the IETT 4, 16D, 133T and E-9 lines as well as the D37 shuttle and get off at Süreyya Paşa stop.
Maltepe Skate Park, built by IMM – Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and opened for use in 2014, fascinates adrenaline enthusiasts.
If you are a professional skateboard or roller skater, except on weekends, the skatepark is for you. Because bicycles, scooters, roller skates and skateboards used by children of all ages on weekends do not offer a very comfortable use. There is a more convenient usage area for professionals on weekdays.
3. Maltepe Basibuyuk Skatepark
It consists of skateboard ramps and tracks in the Maltepe Başıbüyük forest and the park with an area of approximately 900 m2. It appeals to amateur skaters and skateboarders rather than professionals.
4. Avcilar Skatepark
Skateboarding Park, located in Denizköşkler neighborhood of Avcılar district of Istanbul, is also one of the best tracks on the European side. As soon as you pass the Küçükçekmece lake, it is within the Avcılar coastal park. (https://goo.gl/maps/Sjx7RtzJ2HR4Tkt58)
Avcılar Skatepark, which is one of the best skateboarding tracks on the European side, is frequently preferred by skateboarders seeking excitement.
5. Ümraniye Tantavi Skateboard Park
It was opened in 2019 by Ümraniye Municipality on Karbeyazı Street in Tantavi district. There are 5 wooden skateboarding tracks in total in Ümraniye Skateboarding Park. It is quite suitable for amateurs and children rather than professional skateboarders. Suitable for use with bicycles, roller skates, scooters and skateboards.
6. Arnavutköy Skateboarding and Skating Rink
It is a skateboard park with an area of approximately 400 m2 in the children’s park, the construction of which was completed by IMM in Arnavutköy district in 2016. It mostly serves children and amateur skateboard riders.

The children’s park, which consists of skateboard tracks in a 450 m2 park, was built by Başakşehir Municipality. Having fun with roller skates, scooters and skateboards at Başakşehir 2.Etap Skatepark located in the children’s park.
How to Ride a Skateboard?
If you want to skateboard, you must first be able to balance on the skateboard. Once you get used to this, you should push yourself on the skateboard with your feet. Once you get used to this, you need to learn the jumping movement on the skateboard called olie. You can hold on to a heavy and large object to perform this movement.
What you need to do for Olie is to lift the tip of the skateboard and perform a normal jump at the same time. After performing this movement by holding on to an object, you should try it on your own. If you’re making progress on this, jump higher every day.
Learning to skateboard and becoming a professional requires patience. But this job turns into fun by learning new things every day. Who knows, one day a person who is very novice in skateboarding will become successful as he practices and one day turn into a professional skateboarder who rides the skateboard in the skate pool.
Especially if you start at a young age, you will be very knowledgeable about this subject when you grow up. Also, you should not choose skate parks with bad ramps. One of the most recommended skate parks is Maltepe skate park and the other is Ataşehir skate park.
How to Ride Skates?
To be able to skate, you have to be brave and confident. You can buy yourself a pair of skates and start learning. Balance is very important in skating. If you examine carefully, you can see the brake device under one skate. You can use this brake by rubbing it on the ground. So you slow down and stop. You have to be fast to go up the ramp so you don’t fall. And try small movements like jumping. If you learn to skate, you’ll see how fun it is.
Don’t panic in case you fall. Because if you panic, you will fall. Knee pads, armbands and helmet are also very important. If you are just starting out, I recommend using gloves. Riding with assist wheels is easy but slows you down. Once you feel confident, you can try beginner skates without auxiliary wheels. As you improve yourself, you can move on to intermediate and advanced levels.
If you don’t know where to buy your skates and are searching, I can recommend you the sports stores in shopping malls. Moreover, the skates there are of very high quality and useful. There are different color varieties. Here’s how to get on your 4-wheel skates without auxiliary wheels:
- Walk in a roller skating manner, placing first one foot in front of the other, then the other foot.
- Walk as in the previous movement, but this time walk as if you were rubbing the soles of your skates on the ground. In fact, this does not mean that you are walking anymore. Because now this means being able to skate.
How to Ride a Scooter?
A helmet, knee pads and armbands are required to ride the scooter. The 3 wheel bike is for small children. It would be more appropriate to use a 2-wheel scooter after the age of 5 or 6. Don’t be afraid to ride a scooter, trust yourself and start.
First, put one foot on the scooter and push the other foot on the ground. That’s the basics of it. Sliding down ramps may seem challenging at first. But when you learn the job thoroughly, it becomes a lot of fun. Going up ramps can be very tiring. But you will definitely get used to it.
At the same time, riding a scooter is a very nice sport. Mostly, people learn on their own, without any help. After all, all it takes is courage. Like most sports, this branch is learned by falling and falling. Once you learn to ride a scooter, you can also try an electric scooter. I’m sure it will be very easy for you.
